Alloy 20 Lap Joint Flanges consist of nickel (32–38%), chromium (19–21%), molybdenum (2–3%), copper (3–4%), and iron, with great resistance to pitting, chloride stress corrosion cracking, and sulfuric acid attack. Mechanically, they offer a minimum tensile strength of 551 MPa and yield strength of 241 MPa and have good ductility and impact resistance. The lap joint design, when applied with a stub end, facilitates ease of alignment and flexibility, minimizing welding time and cost. They are particularly suited to use in systems where corrosion resistance is essential and regular maintenance or reconfiguration is desired.
