In order to prevent carbide precipitation during welding, stainless steel 321 flanges are stabilised with titanium (at least five times the carbon content) and contain 17–19% chromium and 9–12% nickel. Intergranular corrosion resistance is improved by this stabilisation. SS 321 has a yield strength of 205 MPa, a tensile strength of roughly 515 MPa, and an elongation of roughly 40%. At temperatures as high as 870°C, it maintains its mechanical characteristics and has a density of 7.9 g/cm³. Because of these qualities, SS 321 is perfect for high-temperature service and maintaining structural integrity in welded environments.
